2006-Present, California Partnership to End Domestic Violence, Sacramento, CA, LGBTQ Domestic Violence Training and Technical Assistance Project Manager

  • Develop instruments for, coordinate and analyze findings for a statewide needs assessment on improving access to services among LGBTQ victims/survivors of domestic violence, involving site visits, interviews and online surveys with 94 agencies.

  • Coordinate a team of 10 staff from 3 agencies to develop training curriculum and toolkits, design training and technical assistance (TAT) plans and deliver in-person and telephone based TAT to 94 agencies.

  • Work with project evaluator to evaluate all project elements.

  • Track and document project activities and write progress reports and articles.

2004 – 2006, Prevention Institute, Oakland, CA, Program Manager

  • Provided strategic planning and capacity building services to sexual and intimate partner violence prevention coalitions, state health departments, and local agencies.

  • Co-organized and co-facilitated a two day Robert Wood Johnson Foundation-hosted national convening on primary prevention of intimate partner violence.

  • Developed and delivered in-person and online training on emerging topics in preventing intimate partner and sexual violence, including environmental change, social norms change, multidisciplinary collaboration, policy advocacy and media advocacy.

  • Assisted with implementation of the Alameda County Violence Prevention Blueprint, a violence prevention policy initiative, including conducting training on violence prevention and consulting on best practices.

  • Conducted research and authored articles on violence prevention.

2004, San Francisco Department of Public Health Community Health Education Section, SF, CA, Evaluation Intern

  • Developed evaluation tools, including written pre- and post-project skills surveys, an oral interview tool and an observation tool. Conducted process and outcome evaluations for violence and substance abuse prevention Community Action Teams.

2000-2003, San Francisco Women Against Rape, SF, CA, Associate Director of Programs

  • Led San Francisco Women Against Rape’s (SFWAR) team of 8 program staff and over 80 volunteers and interns to provide sexual assault intervention and prevention services through partnerships with over 80 schools, community-based organizations and public agencies, reaching over 11,000 people annually. Coordinated team to plan programs and budgets, deliver services, achieve annual goals and objectives and comply with public/private contract data-collection, reporting and evaluation requirements. Responsible for annual program budget of $442,000.

  • Provided leadership in organizational development, including two Executive Director transitions, organizational restructuring, personnel management, annual planning and staff development training. Coordinated staff, board and volunteer Strategic Planning Committee and oversaw initial planning process that included focus groups, interviews and planning sessions.

  • Served on the San Francisco Sexual Assault Response Team and coordinated legal, medical and mental health sexual assault response systems. Negotiated interagency MOUs and developed policies and protocols.

2002-2003, San Francisco Adult Sexual Assault Task Force, SF, CA, Co-Chair

  • Co-Chaired a multidisciplinary task force of public agencies and nonprofit organizations advancing a citywide response to sexual assault. Recruited new members, facilitated monthly meetings, represented task force at public forums, and organized outreach and education projects. Served as lead conference organizer for 2003 Sexual Assault Response and Prevention Conference, attended by over 150 people.

1998-2000, Community United Against Violence, SF, CA, Domestic Violence Education Director                                                                                                                                        

  • Developed curricula and conducted workshops and trainings on LGBTQ domestic violence intervention and prevention.

  • Coordinated team to design and launch the LOVE & JUSTICE Project, an LGBTQ youth relationship violence prevention project. Co-authored successful $300,000 grant proposal, coordinated needs assessment (community advisory group, peer facilitators, focus groups, written surveys, data analysis) and oversaw program development process.

  • Co-authored successful $90,000 grant proposal and coordinated needs assessment (focus groups, interviews, data analysis) for the Oakland LGBTQ Domestic Violence Prevention Project.

1997-1998, National Economic Development & Law Center, Oakland, CA, Program Specialist

  • Assisted with implementation of two multi-county nonprofit management capacity building programs, including research, project administration and production of marketing materials, reports and web site. Assisted with planning and presentation of organizational development workshops.

1995-1997, Tenants & Owners Development Corporation, SF, CA, Project Manager/Services Planner

  • Project Manager for physical, financial and support services development for $8 million affordable housing development project, “The Isabel.” Formed partnerships to bring integrated mental health, health and substance abuse treatment services to South of Market affordable housing developments.

  • Authored and assembled 4 successful grant and loan applications totaling over $7 million.

  • Led team of 3 staff and 20 volunteers to design and implement the South of Market Voter Organizing Project. Registered 500 people who were homeless or marginally-housed to vote, organized ten-week popular education-based voter education program and conducted “get out the vote” neighborhood outreach.
